Last Thursday Nate come home from work feeling sick. He spent all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday in bed which if you know Nate the man can't hold still for more then 5 minutes. On Saturday Avery started to get a small fever which I thought was nothing more then teething, boy was I wrong. By Monday Avery still had a low grade fever and was very whiney and all she wanted was to snuggle in fact all week she has said; "nuggle me mom nuggle me," boy does this break my heart. Monday morning started her on Tylenol and Motrin every four hours but she wasn't getting better.
On Wednesday Nate was feeling much better which was so nice because we had an appointment with Dr. Ganesan her Urologist. This was a great appointment! He said that Avery's reflex is down to a grade two and that he wants to just wait and see us back in a year. This is fantastic news and I am so glad that things are improving! He was really funny he said, "I have already operated on her two times and I don't want to do it again." this made me giggle for some reason. HA!
Anyway, back to Miss Avery on Wednesday the fever was back up and she looked miserable! Dr. Ganesan told me that if the fever hadn't broken by Thursday that I should take her into the pediatrician just to have her checked out. Thursday came and she was still feverish so we took her in and she has another UTI. UGH!!!! Poor thing didn't show any of her normal signs so I had no idea. The pediatrician started us on yet again a new antibiotic and sent us home. At two am the next morning Avery threw up and had a fever of 104.5 YIKES!!!! We rushed her into an emergency care where they gave Avery a huge shot with a different antibiotic, something for her nausea and a huge dose of Motrin.
By Friday morning Avery was looking much better and had started acting like herself. The thing that just breaks my heart is that Avery keeps saying, "doctor hurt doctor hurt." Every time I change her diaper she cries and says, "no mommy hurt, no hurt." Ugh! Poor girl has been through so much and it just breaks my heart.
I am so grateful that Nate was able to be with us through everything, he is such an awesome man and an even better daddy. I am also so grateful that we have modern medicine, I can't imagine what could have happened if we didn't have great doctors like Ganesan and the other huge medical support system that we have.
Here are a few pictures of my little sickies.
Look at Nate's mask! HA!!!!! He wore it EVERYWHERE. It was the funnies thing. I tried to tell him that he needed to draw a smile on it so that it wouldn't scare anyone. HAHA!!!
